Coolpad’s new $150 Android phone has a wider screen like the iPhone Duo, but doesn’t fold
The Coolpad Cool X Wide features a wider-than-typical display similar to folding phones such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Huawei Pura X View, but without folding capability. This design approach delivers the expansive screen size of foldables when closed while avoiding the premium pricing, repair costs, and inevitable creasing associated with folding screens. The device is available for preorder in China through JD.com at 999 yuan.
Key points
- Wide screen matches closed foldable phone dimensions
- Priced at $150, significantly cheaper than foldables
- Avoids repairs costs and screen creases of foldables
- Available in China via JD.com preorder
